About the Organization

The Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band is one of the fastest growing organizations on campus and boasts three ensembles under its umbrella in addition to the renown Bulldog Marching Band. See below for a brief overview of each ensemble and how to join.

The Bulldog Marching Band is an NCAA Division-I college marching band in the Mountain West Conference that performs at all Fresno State home football games and various other events on campus and in the community. There is no audition for wind players (piccolo, clarinet, saxophone) or brass players (trumpet, mellophone, trombone, baritone, tuba) unless they wish to audition for Bulldog Beat or for a Bulldog Marching Band Scholarship. Instrumentation adjustments or caps are based on instrument availability. The color guard holds a live audition in May each year for placement in the guard as well as for significant scholarship money.  The battery and front ensemble hold auditions in May each year for placement in the group and for significant scholarship money as well. The battery section will not exceed 10 snares, 6 tenors, 8 basses, and 10 cymbals. The front ensemble instrumentation is currently 5 marimbas, 4 vibraphones, 1 drum set, 1 bass guitar, 3 synth/keyboards, 1 xylophone, and 2 auxiliary.
