The Bulldog Marching Band and Music Department are combining the scholarship/stipend applications in addition to holding all auditions on the same day. The Fresno State Department of Music Audition Day provides prospective students an opportunity to audition for department faculty and become eligible for departmental scholarships.

Auditions for the Bulldog Marching Band Winds, Bulldog Beat, Music Department Instrumentalists, and Music Department Vocalists will take place on the same day. Students who are auditioning for more than one area will be scheduled for separate audition times. You do not need to be a Music Major to apply and audition for Marching Band or Bulldog Beat Scholarship.

Audition Days will take place on:

(Colorguard) - May 7, 2016 at the Student Rec Center

(Percussion Clinic) - May 6-7, 2016 in the Music Building Foyer

Bulldog Beat

Bulldog Beat is a jazz/rock/funk/pep public relations band much like those in our country’s theme parks. Members of the two separate Bulldog Beat Bands tour for one week in January to high schools throughout California. Scholarships from $2,100 to $2,800 are offered to members of these prestigious groups, which perform at community events, men and women’s basketball home games, and most home volleyball games. Members of this fine group are the nucleus of the marching band and the basketball band. The instrumentation is determined each year by the talent that is discovered through scholarship auditions. Bulldog Beat Auditions took place in January 2016.

Marching Band Stipend

At the end of the Marching Band season, every member in the Marching Band is awarded a stipend as a token of gratitude for their commitment. The amount of the stipend varies, depending how many years that member has been involved in the Marching Band.

For scholarship information about these ensembles, contact Sindi McGuire at smcguire@csufresno.edu
