Steve McKeithen

Associate Director of Bands/Director of Athletic Bands

Steve McKeithen assumed his role at Fresno State in 2014. In addition to leading the athletic bands, he conducts the Fresno State Symphonic Band and teaches music education courses on campus.

Joseph Avery

Percussion Caption Head

Joseph Avery took the helm of the percussion section in 2015 and has been a driving factor in elevating our program which includes the formation of a World Class indoor percussion group, Red Wave Indoor, in 2017.

Shelby Stratton

Colorguard Caption Head

Shelby Stratton returned to the BMB as a colorguard instructor in 2024, and was previously a member of the colorguard. In addition to the Bulldog Marching Band, Shelby instructs at Clovis Highschool and Fresno State Independent Winterguard.

Rachel Stratton

Administrative Assistant

Rachel joined the Bulldog Marching Band family in 2021. In addition to her role at Fresno State, she is an active color guard instructor in the Clovis Unified School District.

Taylor Hopfer

Colorguard Caption Head

As a former member of the BMB colorguard Taylor Hopfer returned to the Bulldog Marching Band as a colorguard instructor in 2024. Taylor instructs at multiple programs in addition to the BMB, including Clovis East Highschool and Fresno State Independent Winterguard.
